Gingerbread Cake

This gingerbread cake is a single layer cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting. It is decorated with gingerbread cookies.

STEP 1: Cook butter on the stove until milk deposits form and turn amber. Let the brown butter cool.

STEP 2: Mix flour, ginger, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

STEP 3: Beat butter, oil, brown sugar, and sugar for 2 minutes. Add molasses, vanilla, and eggs.

STEP 4: Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk until it is all mixed in.

STEP 5: Bake the cake for 37-40 minutes at 350°F. Let it cool before decorating.

STEP 6: Beat butter and cream cheese for 3 minutes. Mix in powdered sugar and cinnamon.

STEP 7: Spread the frosting over the cake. Cut it and decorate with gingerbread cookies.
