Black Velvet Cake

This black velvet cake is a layered fudgy chocolate cake. It uses black cocoa both in the cake and in the frosting.

STEP 1: Mix together the dry ingredients. Add in the wet ingredients.  

STEP 2: Pour cake batter into prepared pans. Bake for 22-24 minutes. 

STEP 3: Ganache. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips. Stir. Chill for 2 hours and whip just before use. 

STEP 4: Frosting. Beat the butter. Add remaining frosting ingredients. 

STEP 5: Spread 3/4 cup of frosting over the first cake layer.

STEP 6: Spread half of the chocolate ganache over the frosting. Repeat with frosting and ganache for 2nd layer. 

STEP 7: Frost the rest of the cake and decorate as desired.
