Chocolate Pancakes

These chocolate pancakes are rich and fluffy pancakes loaded with chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoon White granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 ¾ cup Buttermilk
  • ¼ cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a medium sized bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, melted butter, buttermilk, milk, and vanilla. Then, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
    3 tablespoon White granulated sugar, 2 Large eggs, 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter, 1 ¾ cup Buttermilk, ¼ cup Milk, 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract
  • Let the pancake batter sit for 10 minutes before using.
  • Heat a griddle to 350°F or a large frying pan on medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter right before adding the pancake batter.
  • Use a ¼ cup measuring cup to scoop the batter on to the pan. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, until the under side is cooked. Then, flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Serve with butter and syrup!

Notes

Flour- Make sure flour is spooned and leveled or use a kitchen scale. Compacted flour can dry out the pancakes and make them too thick.
High altitude baking- Add an extra 1 tablespoon of flour.
Be very careful to not to over mix the batter. If the pancakes feel dry and dense, then the batter is over mixed.
