Halloween Chocolate Cake

This Halloween cake is a 2 layer black velvet chocolate cake filled with black cocoa buttercream and topped with chocolate skulls. It is perfect if you LOVE chocolate.

STEP 1: Mix flour, black cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.

STEP 2: Mix oil, vanilla, eggs, melted chocolate, and buttermilk in a separate bowl.

STEP 3: Mix in a few drops of black food dye. Slowly mix in hot water. Then, mix it into the dry ingredients.

STEP 4: Pour the batter into two 8-inch cake pans and bake 30-34 minutes.

STEP 5: Sift powdered sugar and black cocoa powder together. Then, beat butter for 3 minutes. Optionally, mold chocolate skulls.

STEP 6: Add half of the powdered sugar to the butter and mix. Add the second half. Then, add vanilla, salt, and black food dye. Beat it on high for 2 minutes.

STEP 7: Frost the cake and add chocolate skulls to decorate.
