Ingredients

  • 1 lb Cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 TBSP Cornstarch
  • 1 TBSP Water
  • 1/4 tsp Almond extract

Instructions

  • If you are using fresh cherries, make sure they are pitted. In a medium saucepan, add the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, water, and almond extract. Mix together.
1 lb Cherries, 1/2 cup White granulated sugar, 1 TBSP Cornstarch, 1 TBSP Water, 1/4 tsp Almond extract
  • Heat on medium heat. Heat until the juice from cherries start to separate and they soften. Use something to mash (like a potato masher) and mash the cherries until desired consistency. I mashed all the cherries so its more like a compote.
  • Continue heating until cherry filling is thickened. It will equal to 1 1/2 cups of cherry filling. Pour into a bowl and cool completely. You can place in the fridge for faster chilling.
