These cookie monster cookies are based off the child character that just loves cookies! I used both Oreo pieces and Chips Ahoy cookie pieces. The cookie is dyed blue to make it extra fun. These are a no mixer and no chill time recipe, so they are easy to make.

Two cookies broke in half on it's side.

Tips for making the cookies

Here are my tips, so yours turns out like this recipe!

  • Tip 1: Properly measure your flour- Make sure the flour is spooned and leveled. If you stick the measuring cup directly into the flour, it will compact the flour. Compacted flour can cause the cookies to not spread.
  • Tip 2: Don’t skip the cornstarch, this helps to soften the gluten strands and leads to a softer cookie.
  • Tip 3: I used Americolor royal blue food dye. I did try this recipe with 1/2 tsp of food dye, but it didn’t make the cookies blue enough.
  • Tip 4: I used regular Oreos and chips ahoy cookies. You can use any Oreo besides double stuff, that has too much cream filling. You can also use any chocolate chip cookies for this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 2 Large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp Royal blue gel food dye, I used Americolor
  • 3/4 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup Oreo pieces, 6 whole Oreos
  • 3/4 cup Chips Ahoy pieces, 6 cookies

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch together. Set aside. Using a food processor, blend 6 Oreos into small and medium pieces. Repeat with 6 chips ahoy cookies. Set aside.
2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour, 1 tsp Baking soda, 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Cornstarch, 3/4 cup Oreo pieces, 3/4 cup Chips Ahoy pieces
  • In a large bowl, use a whisk to mix melted butter, brown sugar, sugar, vanilla, eggs, and royal blue food dye.
1 cup Unsalted butter, 1 cup Light brown sugar, 1/2 cup White granulated sugar, 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract, 2 Large eggs, 1 tsp Royal blue gel food dye
  • Add in the dry ingredients and mix using a rubber baking spatula to mix until just combined. Add the Oreo pieces, Cookie pieces, and chocolate chips and mix.
    3/4 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Let the cookie dough rest for 10 minutes to help with spreading.
  • Use a large cookie scoop to scoop the cookie dough. Place 6 cookie dough balls per cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 13-15 minutes until the edges with look set. Since they are blue, they won't get that golden color.
  • Immediately, top each cookie with an Oreo piece, a cookie piece, and extra chocolate chips. Let the cookies sit on the hot pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Flour- Make sure flour is spooned and leveled or use a kitchen scale. Compacted flour can dry out the cookies
High altitude baking- Add an extra 2 TBSP of flour.
